73% of Jewish college students have experienced or seen antisemitism since start of school year, new survey finds

A recent survey by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and Hillel International found that 73% of Jewish college students in the US have either experienced or witnessed antisemitism on campus since the beginning of the 2023–24 academic year. Additionally, 44% of non-Jewish students also reported seeing or experiencing antisemitic incidents, which ranged from vandalism to violent threats.

The findings reflect growing campus tensions fueled by the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Both Jewish and Muslim students have reported increased harassment, hate speech, and safety concerns. The ADL and the Council on American-Islamic Relations both documented rising bias incidents after the war began.

Recent examples of escalating threats include a Cornell University student being federally charged for making antisemitic threats online, and the University of Pennsylvania reporting violent antisemitic emails to the FBI. These incidents point to a broader trend of rising campus hostility and fear among Jewish students.
